Exhibits will be on display February 16 – March 23, 2023

The Art of Bernice Tate is first and foremost a personal tribute recognizing the life and times of her mother, the late Veronica Robinson-Mitchell, Sheldon, SC. The exhibit is furthermore a bit of “herstory” as well as a celebration of Low Country Culture and Gullah-GeeChee Heritage. The artwork of Bernice is Inspired by and based on design elements of nearly fifty years of hand-sewn quilts created by her mother. Bernice Mitchell Tate is internationally recognized for her amazing mixed media sculptural collages that transform material culture into art. Bernice?s process of fused continuity speaks to the vibrant, iconic and timeless quality of her artwork.
