City of Aiken Juneteenth Celebration

Juneteenth is a significant day in American history, marking the end of slavery. It commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of slavery, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s a time to reflect on the struggles of African Americans for freedom and equality and celebrate their resilience and achievements.
Exciting youth activities await at the Center, including tile painting, bingo and various Juneteenth-themed crafts.
