Virtual Storks and Corks
August 13 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
With their big bills, naked heads, and striking black and white plumage—it’s hard to forget one’s first Wood Stork sighting…especially when there are so many of them in one place, as you’re likely to see throughout the month of August at our Silver Bluff Audubon Center and Sanctuary in Aiken County!
These curious-looking wading birds were once federally listed as a Endangered Species. But thanks to effective conservation efforts, like those we’ve undertaken at Silver Bluff, Wood Stork populations have made a comeback.
We are thrilled to welcome these annual visitors back to Silver Bluff’s ponds, and we invite you to celebrate their return–and our 35th year of feeding these amazing creatures–at a virtual event and Wood Stork viewing hosted by Audubon South Carolina Executive Director Justin Stokes, Silver Bluff Sanctuary Manager Brandon Heitkamp and Beidler Forest Center Director Matt Johnson.
